ensure that anyone that may have owned the car before you didnt just switch the wires around by popping out the female spade and flipping them around in the plastic recepticles. when using the wiring diagram look at the colors in correspondence with the connectors. thats what happened when I purchased mine the moron I bought it from had every wire changed around. second: the motors instructions state they will smoke a little before normal operation, you just dont want to have a three alarm fire. third, without the proper ground strap the motor definitely will not work; this was the last problem I had to solve on mine after clearing up the wiring issues. My experience with these motors has been they smoke like a bitch without a ground, so make sure the circuit is complete at the wiper switch. On 69's (dont know if its the same on 70's the ground is a metal strap in the back of the dash and shares ground with the headlight switch and then connects to the instrument cluster (where it completes the electric circuit.)
