I bought a NOS cheater kit at the end of summer. I plan on jetting it for a 150 hit. I started a thread about single plane intakes as I am runnig a airgap rpm. My converter flashes to 4K so I don't think the single plane will hurt, in fact I think it's gonna help NA and on the nitrous. I just installed some Comp ultra gold 1.6 rockers(I also had a thread about that awhile ago) that brings my cam lift to .590-.600. The motor feels good with them and I think the extra lift will help pull the upper rpm's and maybe give me 3-400 more rpms up topwith the open intake. The intake I ordered is a polished hurricane. I know it's made of chinesium but It's polished(I do more cruise nights then dragstrip runs) and the polished or coated intakes of the name brands are $350-400/.I have heard this intake actually makes good power with a gasket match and that's what I plan to do to it. I will run this combo at the track before I install the nitrous. If the intake picks me up I may invest on a better one down the road.I am hoping I can get a tenth out the rocker and intake swap then I think the 150 hit should get me in the 10.20's. What yall think?

I will hit the track in a few weeks after the intake swap. My goal is April for the first nitrous pass.:hurray:

I also ordered a MSD distributer and the new digital 6AL box. I should have it all together next weekend. I have been running a Pertronix HEI and wanted a rev limiter for the nitrous use and the box I am hoping will help keep plugs a little cleaner idling around.

My buddies 69 Camaro ran very similar times to yours NA .Last time was 11.6 at 116. He hit his with a 180 shot and went 10.29 at 129.9. He runs the same polished Hurricane intake as well!

A Rev limiter and NOS I do beleive is a big No No! Turn that rev limiter to 10K on that box when you squirt it. Look into the digital 6 box because it will automagically retard your timing with the juice. Rule of thumb is 2 degrees per 50HP of the smack to be safe. I have taken out 4 on a 150 shot and didnt have any issues.

My bad.. I didnt see the "digital" before the 6!
Thats a great box for the juice but NO rev limiter when you squirt it! Very bad things can happen! :(

You know what, I put one in years ago with a 7000 rpm 427, and well, while I;ve bumped it, its never "saved" the rat. But its nice to have.

Not much here. Spent $48 to dress down the old nodular flywheel, which at 28.5 lbs, is the correct weight. The billet ( 36 lbs and out of balance wheel) will wait for a new M22Z at a later date. No heavy clutch drops with that iron wheel for a while!

I'm leaving it up to you all to spend the economy out of the doldrums! I'll be needing all the gas money I can muster!

GIVE ER HELL there 72southern!!!

I am hoping the single plane with a gasket match and ditching the HEI for a full MSD ignition will give me a tenth. If so then hoping the 150 hit will take me from 11.4X's to 10.2X's.

This is the new 6AL digital box,not the digital 6 box. I have read the instructions and don't think there is any nitrous retard feature in it.

The digital 6 box makes life a whole lot simpler because of the auto retard feature. If you dont have it you will be manually retarding the timing which is a PITA! You are going to want to retard the timing on NOS.

I had planned on manually dialing back the timing when using the nitrous, but eventually I will get the msd module that allows you to adjust timing with a knob under dash. I did a gasket match on the new hurricane intake last night. I will install it after work today. My msd ignition stuff will be here tomorrow so It should be running for the weekend.

Bumping the rev limiter on nitrous (while not the best thing to do) is really not that big of a deal. I have done it a few times in my race car; the worst for .5 seconds (on the data logger) at 8000 rpms (rev limiter) with a 400 shot of nitrous. Did not wound anything. I try not to make a practice of it, but with crappy track conditions, etc, sometimes it happens.

I had one of those little dial type timing things you are talking about in my street car and my last race car, they are pretty slick and seem to work very well. I think they are great as long as you do not forget to dial back the timing before you turn on the hose.

Car is back together. While I had the car apart I removed the a/c suitcase from the firewall and closed it off with a piece of sheet metal. Cleaned, sanded and painted and came out really well. the new combo feels incredible. The throttle response is crazy! I thought the open plenum intake would make off idle a little soggy but it feels more crisp than with the single plane. The MSD system makes cold and hot starts much easier. holds idle sooner on cold starts and idles cleaner when warmed up. I have not touched carb settings from old setup. new NGK FR5 plugs gapped at .055 and they look great. I think 11.40's are comin if I get to the track before the heat comes.

.055 gap is not nitrous friendly. I would run an NGK -9 heat range for nitrous gapped at no more than .030
