Tim,
when I changed mine, I took the entire vent window out of the door. Seems like I had to drill that rivet off where the framework of the glass pivots...in order to get the new seal in place.

The big rubber is held in the frame with 3 of 4 clips which I did not receive with the new part. I think they are not available. I used caulking to glue it in place.

I know there are some postings about this subject. You could try a search on "vent window".

It is/was the hardest piece of weatherstripping to replace on the whole car in my opinion. I removed the window & mechanisum before wrestling the vent frame out of the door shell. Then it's on the the work bench where you take the vent frame apart and replace the rubber. Then you put it all back together.
