Doing the '66 wagon windshield and side glass today.
Want to come over and watch/help? ;)
I've got a buddy that used to do it for a living. Pretty easy once you see it done a few times.

Haven't heard of the lacquer thinner for removal but I guess it would soften the buytl tape and make it easier. To remove the glass I use thin wire (safety wire works great) and a couple of screww drivers for handles. Poke the wire through the buytl into the car and pull it in half way. Hook up the handle and have a friend on the out side start pulling the wire through the buytl. Keep the wire off the edge of the glass since it can't cut the glass. careful on the edges so you don't break the glass. Pull it out, clean up the winshield track and your ready to install the next windshield/back glass. Do a search on installing the glass.......it's about the easiest thing you can do to your car.

Really you're better off cutting thru the butyl tape instead of softening it with a solvent. The stuff will spread everywhere.
We use a utility knife and a handle tool with a hook, especially if the window has never been removed before.
Be careful with the older glass...very brittle from age and will crack/chip easily.
