hi folks, ive got a problem with all the windows fogging up like ive never seen before.i pressure checked the cooling system & rad cap & all ok. before i wash the car i tape the bottom of the windows just to eliminate water in the panels. do you think maybe the under carpet material could be disintegrating & finding its way to the windows? any one else with a clue?

Ive got a similar fogging issue. 20 yrs ago when I first bought the car they would fog a little but go away after I hit the defrost. I recently bought the car back and now the windows have a permanent fog that just smears if i try to wipe it. Ive cleaned it with glass cleaner and it makes it better but cant eliminate it. Only thing I can think of is the aftermarket oil psi gauge did leak oil onto the carpet and maybe the heat with the windows up cause fumes from the oil leak to fog them? I dont know. Sometimes the paper towel is black when I wipe them. Pretty frustrating

thanks anthony. i checked my oil gauge & all is good. its funny but when i leave the windows down there's no fogging. the defroster & a/c has no effect on this mess. its gotta be something in the carpet. i can see into the door panels & they're dry.

For that weird oily fogging, try wiping down your windows with lacquer thinner or Prep-sol. See if they come clean. You have to be careful with the thinner. It melts plastic.

The other fogging, check your A/c box drain. A plugged drain will cause this.

Armorall will also cause a similar condition; although it does tend to stay on the glass and is a pain to get off.

we pressurized the cooling system for 2 days. no leaks. a/c box drain is clear. fogging happens even if the car is running or not. kind of embarrassing at the car shows & parades. i leave the windows down for those.

I can't say about the OP's problem but Im pretty sure my problem is not a heater core issue. I say this because mine are constantly fogged and the defrost and wiping them doesn't fix it. I'm talking about all my windows here too, not just the front. and its not the kind of " fog" you get with a bad heater, ive delt with that before.

Im leaning towards armor all being the causebecause the guy i bought it from did have a can under the seat so it makes sence. I can clean them with 409 and they are good for the day but comes right back. I was thinking of trying rubbing alcohol or thinner so we'll see how it goes.
