Hi. I bought replacement window felts for my 1970 Malibu. I was able to install the front window felts and the driver side quarter window, however the passenger quarter window is giving me trouble.
I can not get the window felt to sit in/on the curvature of the vehicle well. At the bend of the car, the rubber is not covering/sealing and there is a gap.
I have tried flexing the piece a little bit (which helped a little) and I also added some additional screws from the inside to add more support to synch the window felt to the car better.
Is this normal to happen with the replacements? What else can I do to fix this?
Thanks in advance!

Do you have a picture of the piece in question "installed" to show where the gap is. I think I understand what you are saying, but it would be nice to verify.

Rain will get in there anyway and run out the bottom of the quarter panel. If were are talking the window fuzzies that merely hold the glass in place when it's going up or down. They don't seal the window. Weather stripping does that... is that what you are referring to?

A small gap under the window felt could be filled with some waterproof seam sealer. For comparison, this picture shows the aftermarket window felts on my Malibu.

Many products can be found at mail order Summit or at local parts houses like OReilly or Napa. I have used the 3M flexiclear seam sealer which is paintable. Note that some silicone blend sealants are not paintable.
As others have stated above, a little water getting past the window felts will not cause problems in the rocker panels, assuming any rust issues in the sheet metal have been treated.
