I bent a paper clip to pull the retaining clip off. Came right off
Push the panel back, you should see the clip
I did have another one with just a piece of the clip stuck in the channel. I had to soak that one in wd40 and then pry it off.

I think the search returned quite a bit of info when I was first trying

I bought that tool,and the metal it was made of almost damaged my new door panel.
I wound up cutting the same profile into a body filler spreader(plastic),and it worked great.
You can also just spin a rag behind it and the clip will pop off.

well it 10 pmhere, and can't wait to try this...going to first car show this weekend in it...been working on it 14 years and just got it painted, everything new, so I am hoping it works, going to take rear windows out to put on new rear window felts

I've been using that tool for years and never had any damage to a door panel, something ain't right there.:confused:

The thing is, the clip stays on the handle and doesn't go flying or get sprung out of shape when using the proper tool.

I put masking tape around all the edges on the door panel side of my window crank tool, which further reduces the odds of any accidental damage to the door panel.
