there is a C clip that holds them on. A special forked shaped tool is available in most auto stores for JUST this purpose. Worth having on hand. Without the tool, you might try a thin piece of rag to work the clip off. I'm sure other folks will have similar tricks to share with you.

thanks for the quick reply.. just like i thought it was held on but just wanted to make sure.. i took my cranks off my honda many times using the rag but last time i was putting in a new window after it got broken into :mad: i just ripped off the crank because i was mad.
i dont want to break the chevelle cranks..
