Window crank gear replacement on a 69?

The gear inside the door on my 69 must have several broken teeth. How do you remove this assembly? Symptom: Window rolls up a bit then stops and the crank has no resistance, then it grabs again and the window goes up some more; repeat until the window is up or down.

Okay, there were 3 rivets that held the gear assembly together and I drilled them out. The gear was toast as expected. Does anyone have a parts car that has a ruined door to pull this gear out of? If not, does anyone know what cars will have the same part? I don't have parts yards easily available to go hunting!

Hey! Fellow Washintonian!

When I was down at the Graham Show(south of Puyallup) in august i stopped at a junkyard a few blocks from the park.

THey had a '68 way in back that had been stripped, but had the doors & windows complete on it. THey had also just gotten a '69 that was complete but wouldn't let me touch it.

The junkyard was about a mile north of Heritage Park in graham. (actuallyt that might even be the name of the junkyard..)

I'm sure you could get what you need off one of those!

Good luck!

I'll try to get over there and look..... Do you think that may be Meridian parts? Is the parts yard on Hwy 7, the road to Mt. Rainier?

That sounds right, I just checked address's and looked it up on mappoint. The one i'm thinking of isn't on hwy 7 though, its acutally on Meridian. There were two junkyards on the road, the one I'm thinking of is next to a texaco service station.

The address for Meridian Auto Wrecking looks like the right one. You might want to give 'em a call first to check.

Let me know if they are still there. I was thinking about making another trip down and pulling the doors off if they were in better condition than mine. (of course my window cranks work...
)

Anyway- Let me know how it goes!

They have a 69 El Camino with good doors. The said the did a cross check and don't have any window regulators that will work.

This has become an interesting quest. It seems there are 2 diferent gears used. One has 6 teeth and the other 7 teeth.

I got a 6 tooth one off a 68 and one 6 tooth one off a 70 today. My 69 has 7 tooth gears on each side!

Anyone want to trade 2 six teeth gears for one 7 tooth gear?
