I have been searching for an original red 1965 Chevelle steering wheel for a year now with no luck. I know I can paint one if I must but I would really like to get original. Does anyone know where I can buy a new one (Probably have to mortgage the house) OR if I buy the Chevelle horn ring and button, will the 65 impala wheel be the same or is it bigger?

Or maybe would a Olds, Pontiac, or Buick wheel be the same?

Thanks guys. This site has been a blessing to a rookie like me.

No, the horn ring won't interchange. I'd suggest painting an original chevelle wheel. The originals were never molded in colors, they too were painted. The resin used is always flat black in color and then topcoated, so you'd be just re-creating the factory process. My suggestion is use a single stage topcoat, probably the same as you'd use on the rest of your interior, just flatten it to a 80% gloss.
