After shimming and reshimming my new GM mini starter wired to use the Ford solenoid to beat a heat soak problem with the old behemouth starter I couldn't get the bendix to disengage as it should.

I finnally took it off and went to a local starter shop. The guy immediately pointed out the jumper wire I ran to use the Ford solenoid had to be removed!!!!!

As it turns out because the mini starter has permanent magnets it causes the bendix to stay engaged for about 5 seconds too long!!!

Went home and removed the jumper, ran a separate wire from the solenoid, and everthing works like a champ!!!!!
