I've got a 71 Chevelle with an enlarged trans tunnel to fit a viper T56. I am trying to determine how difficult it will be to get stock molded carpeting to fit properly. I am going to buy carpeting and seem to remember a post about carpeting and how some brands fit looser than others. I'm thinking a looser sloppier fit is what I need. I also want a carpet with a mass backing but I expect that may make the carpet harder to conform to the new trans hump shape.

Anybody care to comment on what they used for carpet over a enlarged trans tunnel and how well the installation went?

I have bought one from Legendary and one from OPG and they both were real loose over the tunnel. From what I have read here they are all a loose fit on the tunnel now days. Hope it works to your advantage. One was a 70 Monte Carlo and the other was a 71 Skylark.
