Madhooker- Arent you still in highschool? Man I would love to have the chance, money, and ability to build a 496 turbo motor to 1000 hp that young. When you think you will have the motor built? :beers:

haha brett nah im not in school enymore. i graduated a few years ago. well its gonna be awhile until the motor is biult. right now the car is sitting waiting for a gas tank. but hopefully by the end of the summer i will have enough to put a nice dent in the cost of my new motor.

A Stock Viper six speed will hold 900hp. I was told this by D&D. They build Camaro/Firebird trans to these specs and have great suscess. They can also build the trans to hold 12-1300hp. This means it wont (or shouldnt) break. But with this kind of power, it will wear depending on how much you abuse it. The more abuse, the more you will have to get it rebuilt.

Im looking at the same hp potenal you are looking at. Im gonna run the stock Viper trans. the way it is until it needs a rebuild. Then I will decide if it needs to be built stronger. I know I will not be able to dead hook the car with this kind of power, so Im thinking the stock trans should hold up ok. I also wont be doing any power shifting.

Just my .02 cents

I run the tremec and put out about 1000 horse in my blown 540. A tranny is rated based on 24 hours at that rating. Power shifting kills them, not the power. If you are running street tires, make fast but positive shifts, no power shifting the tremec will hold up
I blew up 3 700Rs in one summer, dropped in a mustang T5 for the next summer and it survived without a problem. I then upgraded to the tremec.

uhoh. a two-step is a box made by MSD and im sure others, that is basicly has two rev limiters. You can run the motor up on the two step and build boost. But from what it sounds like, the car is nowhere near needing that part right now.
