I am about ready to put this engine together but want to be sure before I put the cam in. I already have the howards but thinking the comp might be more forgiving if the tune isn't spot on. Saying that, I am pretty good at tuning though. I have posted on this subject in the past but have narrowed the cams down and want to make sure before I go ahead and put this together.

Get a Gen6 cam and a retaining plate NO setting end play but still check it , I'm sure you can get it with the Howards cam, I'm no pro but read a whole bunch on the subject :) that should be a real fun Camaro...67 Camaro :cautious: my dad sold mine while I was at school when I was 15

I have a similar 427 I have put together, same heads with mild porting but a 9.75:1 compression. Howards recommended a cam with 10* less intake and exhaust. I would think you would have no problems with the Howards cam you have with your slightly more compression.

Use the howard since you already have it, I think it will work fine with 93 as long as the tune is close.

Agree, Run the Howard, I have a comp XR282HR-10, PN 11-432-8 same duration, same lobe sep, slightly less lift on my .030 over 454 w/ 10.25:1 pistons, ported iron oval port heads with 2.19/1.88-inch valves. the car is really streetable but still makes 530 hp & 580 ft lb of torque. on 91 octane.
