if its a basically stock motor why not just go with an Edelbrock performer? my opinion is an airgap is overkill for a stock motor,i ran a Performer for years on my daily driver 350 with a small RV cam from Erson,it ran smooth as silk on the interstate and had decent torque on the street.

I swapped from a SMOG-era Qjet manifold w/ Holley adapter to a Holley 300-36 hi-rise dual plane and went .25 seconds quicker and 2mph faster in the 1/8th with no other changes. Both intakes are aluminum and the 300-36 is actualy a bit heavier.

This was stock rebuild short block with 882 heads.

Same beat-up 1 5/8" headers were used with both intakes.

In your pictures it looks like you already have an aluminum intake, what kind is it?

I have a friend who owns a local speed-shop and we talked about this manifold difference last year and the way his engine-builder puts it is..............with the "air-gap" manifold you lose a little low end TQ but gain it at top end. I would agree with Bowtie455 and stay with a dual plane "performer".

Edelbrock actually casts most of GMs performance aluminum intake manfolds, so I'd venture a guess you wouldn't see any difference between what you have and a Performer. A Performer RPM might show a little more top end, but if your 350 is stock, how much top end do you have/need anyway? Save the intake upgrade for when you can also upgrade your heads and/or cam.

Just an FYI guys. I did NOT lose any low-end torque or throttle response or idle quality when going from the low-rise stocker to the high-rise Holley. Throttle response and low end are much better, regardless of magazine/bench racing theory. idle quality was equal on both.

I thought I wouldn't feel the difference until the upper end, but on my engine the upper end feels about the same as the engine runs out of steam at 5500 but the low end response is what I can feel and the timeslip doesn't lie.

If you are going to do a swap, I would go straight for the RPM/300-36/Stealth type intakes, you'll end up with one later if you do a cam/head change.
