I'm running a Performer and a Holley 600 on a 1970 307 and it works fine. I also like a "good" Q jet but the one I wanted was $100 more than the Holley.

Im in monmouth county

Stock rear and no headers
find out your gear ratio by looking for numbers stamped on the housing that you can post online for us to figure out. if you have no headers, i would suggest grabbing a pair before you get an intake/carb setup. you may need to cut your exhaust back some but it's worth it. stock manifolds are not helping you.

what town are you in, if you aren't too far away i might be able to give u some help

Edelbrock Performer and a Holley 600
If it was me I would go this route. With the Edelbrock Performer and the 600 Holley.
Then add a set of headers to your dual exhaust system. Make sure you have good plug wires and you should watch your sparkplugs for signs of running rich/lean.

Some have suggested the Quadrajet 4bbl. It's a good carb. But theres a problem for future upgrades. The Quadrajet 4bbl. uses what called a spread bore. So you have to buy a spread bore intake. If you ever plan on upgrading your 307 to something with more hp like a build 350 or 383. You don't what to use a spread bore intake. You would be looking for a square bore intake. This square bore intake would give better fuel distribution between all 8 cylinders.

Yes you can use a adapter to interchange one to the other. The adapters are ugly and don't flow aswell, as if you had the correct intake for the correct carb.

It's not always what will work for your application at the moment, but what will work as well for future upgrades. Unless you have lots of money to though away on parts or you never plan on upgrading your build.

Without adding a set headers you will have a bottle neck between your upgraded intake/carb and your dual exhaust system. All that extra air coming in needs a place to go. So it goes to your dual exhaust but your stock manifolds are slowing down the flow.

Just my .02 cents...

I would get either weind stealth or a holley street dominator II both work great and leave room for future changes bigger cubes ect both are square bore. for a carb go with a holley 670 street avenger it will work fine on your 307 and it will support 400 plus hp and up to 350 cubes nicely for street and light track use there again its all about future upgrades plus you can get them cheap on ebay. just my 2 cents

Imho, an old 2101 Performer and a stock Q-Jet OR 1850 Holley, 600cfm carb, on a 300-36 intake and a cheap set of 1.625", 4-tube, long headers and say a cam like CC's 260HE and it should REALLY pick it up, imho!!

Note, Nothing Fancy at all!

Probably like 265hp at 4,500 to 5,000 rpm and 340t at 3,000 to 3,500 rpm uncorked!

Install a set of 1.94"/1.50" valved 64 cc chambered, bowl-blended, double-hump heads and .015" thick steel shim headgaskets to up your CR probably about a point to like 9.5 to 1 CR., and it come's right alive.

More like 330 hp at 5,500 rpm and 369 t at 3,500 to 4,000 rpm uncorked!

Add a CC 268HE cam and it becomes!!

349 hp at 5,500 rpm and 367 t at 4,500 rpm uncorked!

See what just a little hopping up can do to the little engine!

Now these numbers are per D2k, but still the little engine can make some decent power if you want to work w/ it and as always, jmho.

And later, everything can swap right over to a 355 engine if you want?

I found an intake that someone had sitting around and im going to use that

what do you think about edelbrock carbs http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=EDL-1806&view=1&N=700+
It's up to you. But I never really like the Edelbrock (old AFB) carbs.

For less money you could get a 670 Holley Street Avenger c/w electric choke for less money. But you would have to buy a dual inlet fuel line.

Roller rockers are worth nothing on a stock 307, and I'd run as far as I could from Pro Form anything, except their Holley Main body replacement.
