Where to post for Parts Wanted for a 68? Need tail panel and weatherstrip retainers..

Hello all!

There are a couple pieces I need for my 68 basket case, hoping people here can help since I can't find these for the life of me on ebay.

1. The rear trim panel. This would be the Chevelle or SS panel that bolts to the rear tail panel between the tail lights

2. The Windshield weatherstrip retainers. These are the stainless steel pieces that are bolted to the upper window frames, that hold the windshield weatherstripping in place.

If anyone has these available, please e-mail me at [email protected]

Thanks!

I think I know virtually every part in a 68 SS Chevelle b/c I've completely restored mine from the ground up, but I have no clue what parts of the car you need help with. Perhaps someone else knows by your description. If not, a picture or two would help.

Sounds like you need the window channel weatherstrip stainless molding and the tail panel moldings that go between the tail lights. Post an ad in the free classifeds because classifieds are not allowed in the forums.

Thanks! According to the 1968 "Body By Fisher" Service Manual, section 6-7, figure 6-8, the part I'm looking for is called the "side roof fail weatherstrip retainer"

It's the stainless trim that is secured to the side roof rails, and the roof rail weatherstrip is glued inside this chanel. If there is a more common term for this piece, please let me know so I know what to ask for! :)

Now, the rear piece is the filler that goes between the tail lights. Again, according to the service manual, section 17-14, figure 17-14, the part appears to be called the "rear end outer panel". Looks like it's 3 parts, the "rear end outer panel", "rear end upper panel" and "rear end lower panel"

Not having seen the original tail panel, i'm not sure what to call it

Here's a picture

The roofrail moldings that hold the weather strips (above the side glass) are not reproduced, but you should be able to find good used ones.

The black part in the pic is part of the body. I assume you don't mean that.

What your calling a rear filler panel, I think of as moldings. They are reproduced. You can get them from Ground-Up.

Thanks! I now see the mouldings are for sale.

Question on the roofrail mouldings; are they the same from 68-72? I believe there is a set for a 70 on ebay, but I'm not sure if they'll work.

Thanks!
