OK, I was also a big fan of Quanta tanks, till my one year old tank got this white haze all over it. I called Quanta only to be told there was nothing they could do to remedy the problem. They said they don't make them, they only sell them. No new tank, no discount on the new one, they wouldn't even ship me the new one free. I bought the new one from Ground-Up and put a semi-gloss clear on it and it's been fine.
BTW, the Ground-Up tank is the exact same tank Quanta sells, but much better customer service in my opinion.

Bill, did this happen using Boeshield or had you painted the tank?

thanks for the imput guys. since most all these places use the same part # do you think its the same manufacturer?
The majority of these repro tanks are made in Canada. I would think they are all made by the same company, then shipped to a distributor who sells them to the venders like Quanta, GU, NPD, EBAY guys, etc. This is basically what Quanta told me when I wanted mine replaced.

The Quanta tank was installed with nothing applied. When I got the new tank from GU,I cleared it with Eastwood's semi-gloss clear..

ok guys & girls. just ordered my tank from www.automotivepartsnetwork.com for 139.24 including shipping. this includes the filler neck :) I was assured that this tank is manufactered in Canada, not the cheap tiawan one. I was also told this IS the same tank all the places like ground up & year one etc. sell.thanks again for all your help & info.

I bought a new tank for my 72 from Ground Up about 2 years ago. Seems to be doing fine, but one tip. The tank I got required the use of a different fuel cap. The new tank had a different style of filler neck on it, and the old cap wouldn't work. Took me a while to figure it out, and had to buy the new cap from Ground Up specifically for this tank. Just an FYI, in case you have the same problem.
