Forgive my ignorance - I cannot seem to find ANY information online. Where do I top off my coolant for my 1966 Chevelle Malibu 283? It was my father's and I'm starting a restore project in his memory. And whenever I google how to top off my coolant (all original factory) all I find are guides on upgrading everything.

Again, please forgive my ignorance. Any help is appreciated.

Remove the radiator cap and fill from there. However only fill it to about 4inches from the top. you may see a line on the radiator for proper fill. Don't worry though because if its overfilled it will puke out the excess once its warmed up. After cooling down you can remove the cap and see how far the coolant is from the top for future reference.

A copy of the owners manual for your dad's vehicle will have most of the answers to questions like this. I bought one for my 70 for cheap and I will predict that yours is just as easy to find.

This is NOT Correct for a Down Flow Rad
If the OP has a 66 Stock DF Rad then he should make sure the Coolant / Water/Antifreeze Mix
covers the Rad Core Tubes/Fins and the Level is about 1" to 1.5" Down from the Rap Opening
he can check this by Opening Up the Rad Cap / using a Ruler and Properly Measuring it
the Reason for the Empty Space in the Top of the DF Rad is so the Coolant can Expand when it get Hot

And the Importance of a Water/Antifreeze Mix is so the Water Pump is Lubricated

And if he overfills it when its hot it pukes it out and that's where it should be.
So you think that the OP should open the Rad Cap when it is Hot
because that is what you seem to imply

Do you have a DF Rad in your Car ??

A Cross Flow Rad is totally different in regards of how far Down the Coolant Level should be
when the Coolant is Cold !!
