I'm installing a new carb with electric choke. Directions say to connect the hot wire to a keyed 12 volt source. Must be 12 volts all the time with the key on. Any ideas where I can tap in? This is a 396 engine.
Thanks,
Fred

Hi Dean,
69 SS 396. Actually the instructions did mention the windshield wiper motor but I didn't know which color wire. Is it the yellow wire? HI Dean, my car looks just like yours minus the vinyl top and it has black stripes on hood and trunk. Is yours Lemans blue?
Thanks,
Fred

I've always hooked mine to the alt. light wire.I think its white on your car.that way the choke won't open with the key on and not running. The wind shield wiper works to but you would have to run it through an oil press. switch to keep it from opening with the key on and not running. My way there is no voltage to the choke until you start the engine and the field is excited on the alternator

Yes it is Lemans blue, I painted it back it's original color but made the mistake of using single stage lacquer.
It needs redoing now since it's getting pretty chipped up and rusting out under the vinyl top.
Only lasted about 20 years :(

Got any pictures of your 69?
