great times out that motor using that old fashion cam, the rear gear you have, and I'm sure that monte is not light. I'm impressed  , I hear people saying the newer cams are better but I'm starting to have my doubts.

In my 69z28 I run a basically stock gm350/330ho motor with a lunati voodoo 268 cam. It has an msd dist. with 32 degree total timing, 14 degree base ad 6al box. I also have a holley 650dp and edelbrock performer rpm intake. With 4.10 gears and an autogear m-22wr my 69z28 runs 13.06 on drag radials with a 1.97 60' time. It pulls 13" of vacum at idle and runs great in all weather conditions. If I could get a better 60' it would run high 12's.

Thanks fabio I was pleaseantly surprised when I took it to the track for the first time and started doing the tuning...... my first ever pass with this combo was a 13.35 and tweaked it from there.

Stock block, no overbore. Stock 9.4:1 compression. Stock pistons. Heads have had clean-up porting/matching done, but labor was under 2 hours for both heads. GM HOT cam (218/228 @0.50 .492 lift) 1.6 rockers. Air Gap intake, Holley 750 with NO secondary metering block (coming this summer).

400hp, 413lbs-ft. No track time yet.

Cool let us know how she performs, question, what do you have the total timing in at - at 3,000 rpm's?

Other than the hydraulic rollers the Xtreme Energy cams are Comp Cams most recent technology. Maybe I'm missing something.
ya it's really not that old but it goes to show you that the stuff from the 80's works great and is reliable to boot. THe cam I have in my elky is old tech from the 60's but it does the job.

355 dished pistons, XE 256, Q-jet, performer, 288 low 4spd and 3.00 gears. For a driver you really couldn't do much better. The plugs have been in there for 3 years with no signs of problems. The cam is too mild for any sort of racing I didn't want to cut the guides so I used it.

Not to nitpick, but your sig says zz430 copy.

Other than the cam, what's the copied part? Diff short block (yours is bored), air gap intake vs GM, vortecs vs fastburns, ZZ430 came with a Holley 80508-S 750 carb, and unique valve covers.

I forget. I'm thinking we finally got it set at 35-36' on the dyno, but I could be wrong.
Mine liked the total at 32 at 3,000 rpm's, vortec heads don't like a lot of timing, at least the one's I've seen don't. ;)

I don't have a chevelle, but I do have a 66 Nova with a vortec set-up.
355 with a blue racer cam 214-224 .443/.465 cam stock vortec heads with stock rockers and comp springs, 650 DP vortec air gap intake hei 32 to 34 deg msd 6 al, 103 autolite plugs, 9.3 to 1 comp. flat top forged TRW pistons.
350 turbo 10 in. PTC converter 3000 stall, big ten rear 3.73 gear M/T et drags 26X8-1/2 by 15 cal-tracs. Car weighs 3120 with driver a 4 gal fuel cell. I have ran a 7.92 at 86.753 mph with the best of a 1.67 60 ft. I need to increase the shooter size, because it's been a dog off the line. This motor idles at 800 rpm, and has 17 in. of vacuum at idle. I only drove it on the street, but I feel it's just to dangerous these days, so I only race it now.
