Wondering if there is any difference that anybody has found with different brands of race fuel? Will one make more power than the other? Ive always used sunoco on our 13:1 350 but I hear many guys using torco. Whats your opinion?

VP C12 in our Camaro was about .1 faster than brand X blue fuel, im all VP now after switching and seeing such a big change and the octane {MON} is within 1 point and the specific gravity was the same between the two fuels

My vote goes for VP

I'm corn-fused? I thought that the purpose of octane was to prevent detonation? I thought that as long as your octane is high enough that the motor does not detonate, anything higher is just a waste of money?

I'm very curious about your responses. I ran Turbo Blue 116 last year because I was still playing with the timing and I was afraid detonation would hurt the motor. Now that I am getting closer to getting the timing sorted out, I am running 93 this year. I don't get to the track very often, but my last run last year was 10.55, but it was on a 50 degree day. The only time at the track this year it ran 10.80's all day, but the weather was in the mid 80's. I blamed the .25 loss on the weather. Maybe I need to run the better gas?
