Whats involved in replacing the rear main seal?

I have a small oil leak that seems to be coming from behind the oil pan, almost from the fly wheel cover. It's not ATF, its dirty oil, so what all is involved in replacing it? Everything is in the car, so would the transmission have to be removed? if so, i might as well get a better torque converter.

Watcha think?

Regardless of the style of rear main seal, you'll end up pulling the motor out of the car. With a two-piece seal it can sometimes be done in the vehicle but it would be more dangerous and take a lot longer than just pulling the engine in the first place.
