All scams, report them to eBay if you can.

Send him a message saying you are close by because of a business trip and want to see the car.

Watch the excuses fly as to why you can't see it right now.

A couple of weeks ago I saw an "original LS-6 convertible" that, based on the picture was perfectly restored, with a buy it now price of about $6000. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that was also a scam. Like animal69 says, if it's too good to be true, it's a scam.

Most of these listings require you to email for bid pre-approval so they can contact you to see if they can scam you. Most are pulled before too long, usually as soon as someone points this out to eBay. Some of these postings are from accounts that have been hacked.

when someone offers something for alot less to scam you and you bite, it is your own greed that draws you in. ebay is a buyer beware world one can never tell when they are getting scammed. the same goes for the seller who also can be scammed. i have decided to just stay away from ebay as i have only made 3 purchases from ebay and was beat 2 times one recent on a buy now option for a fly cutter.:(

Like everyone sasy its a scam. There are taking real auctions that have already ended and relisting at rediculous prices.

They also will try to contact the bidders of current auctions. When I had my 40 Ford on Ebay last summer I had my phone number on there to contact me with any questions. I got a call from a guy saying he would buy it for the price I emailed him from ebay but asked if it was ok if he wired the money instead of the Paypal request he thought I sent him.

Lucky for him he called me. He was the current high bidder on my real auction but the car was still 5K away from my reserve. The scumbags emailed him as me saying I would sell to him now at only 1000.00 more than his current bid.

It would not have affected me. I don't think EBAY would have helped him either since the transaction would have been out of thier normal channels.

I think since the new bidder 1,bidder 2 ect fomat is in place that it will be harder for those types of scams. I the flip side its much harder for the consumer to trace histories and see if someone and thier friends are bidding up thier own auctions.

A Friend of mine was selling his 1970 Buick GS, put it on ebay. Utilimately sold it weeks later after working out all of the deatails. Any way to make the story short. Somebody lifted his pictures and relisted the same car on ebay, with a ridiculous buy it now price. So my friend contacted the new buyer, of his old car, and the new buyer wasn't even aware his car was for sale. So YES SCAM! I guess alot of this is going on. It supports my theroy, go fly and see the car. Atleast you will know there's a real car involved!
