I have had good luck with my checking rods from comp cams.
Hey thanks I'm sure most are similar. Just thought one might be the hot ticket over another. Sometimes it works out that way.

I bought the Crane adj. checking PR's but afterwards wished I'd of bought some with the measurements on them, if no incremental measurements on the rods you'll also need a 12" caliper, I used a friends caliper to measure mine...a few different times lol

Yea that's kind of why I was asking. I saw some like that on YouTube. I ended up getting the Crane ones as well.

Yep I forgot about checking springs need to be used, it's funny that the Crane adjustable PR's in my 98" stroker harley shovelhead look just like my Crane PR length checker tools, it has shaft rockers and I don't know spring pressure of the S&S heads but it would seem like they could make adj. rods for V8's with mild spring pres...?

You have a hammer and a vice don't you? The threads will straiten after repeated use... ;)

Id think using some 3/4" wood on each side of the jaws of a vice would straighten your bent PR checkers well enough to use again, I do know for a fact that doesn't work trying to reuse bent PRs lol

Shoot Rick, you wore your threads out on your length checkers. 😆

My checker bent at the threads. I bent it back and it works okay.
