Swap meet coming up in a couple of weeks, and my stepson says he's got a line on a 69 bench seat that he can get for 100 bucks...

Is that price about right for one with good springs and frame but needs recovered, or should I hold off and try to find one at the swapmeet?

I think that it is to much for one that is in need of recovering. JMHO

We gave ours away from our '69 Elke, and it was in great shape. The guy bought covers from OPG, and it looked factory new.
