Stock fresh 71 400 .030 shortblock with rebuilder full dish 400np type pistons

New stock vortec #062 heads

GMPP dual plane intake (the one like rpm)

Voodoo 256 hyd cam.

750cfm vac secondary holley

Stock conv. headers.

Without $$ in machine work and springs in heads think this is about as good as its gonna get.

Shortblock is fresh, block never decked. Fear the rebuilder pistons are .045-.050 in the hole.........add a .041 gasket and I'm guessin 9:1

Think it'd be the best it could be?

If the XE 256 is the same cam then I built the same thing only a 350, Performer and a Q-jet. You will like it. In my nova the cam really is too mild but it weighs quite a bit less than your car and has a 4spd.

Thanks.

Story is..bought this 406 from a buddy. Fresh, but a real bad mismatch.

Someone obviously sunk alot of $$ into it, but made bad decisions.

By the time I got done with my "Might as well's".....I was left using just the block!! which would be a shame.........cuz everything is fresh and the block isn't even the ideal block for my planned build.

Now planning to just put this together.......find the right block at my lesiure..........then take my time building what I want how I want..............and when done sell this complete engine.

Wanted a little more cam, but don't want to spend $$ on heads and the CR is kinda low.

At least my car will be mobile :D

Thanks again, Kevin
