My 70 Elky daily driver has about 9.5:1, unknown mild perf cam, 3.42s posi
Has run a traction-plagued 15.1/90 with 60' of 2.25 sec

You can expect VERY LEISURELY times with your 2.56 gearing

I remember running my first car like that with a very similar eng, trans, gear combo.
It ran 16.40s @ 99mph..............using 1st & 2nd gear only.

my friends all thought it was the fastest car they were ever in.................from 35-40 mph.:D

ok my 78 elcamino supersport yes a real SS missing the original 350.had a 305 40 over jasper motor. I rebuilt it with KB hyper pistons flattop with two valve reliefs. 882's with 202in/160ex valves and .010 cut after witch they measured 74cc's. .005 off the block to make true. flepro stock replacement head gaskets. Edelbrock preformer cam and lifters , intake, 600cfm eddy carb and air cleaner all came in a kit from summit. 1.6 stamped roller tipped rockers. th350 with b&M shift kit. 2:73 posi stock rear. exhaust manifolds that had some port work done. 2 1/4" duals with two glasspacks. a set of bfgoodrich TA radials 245 50 15's. I thought for sure it would run 12's cause I had a mustange that went 12's on motor and everyone said the elky was faster boy was I shocked when I went to norwalk with it and put on my 26 X 9.5 X 15 M/T's slicks from the stang and it ran 16.00 flat. lol switch to the street tires Bf's the car ran 14.50. I was still crushed. put the stock 195/70/14's back on the car and put in a hughs 2500 stall. and car went 14.00 and barely spun for 3-4 feet if that. put on a set of 235/60/14 dunlop gt's and a set of black jack headers, the car ran a best of 13.50 after I disconected the power steering and removed the A/C compressor and made sure nothing was in the car and everything was in perfect tune. need less to say I was shopping for a big block a month later lol. by the way the slow stang ran 12.87-12.89 consitently on motor and 11.76-11.78 on a 125 shot N.O.S. every wensday at norwalk and every sunday. so the seat of the pants isnt always as accurate as we hope forit to be lol.

i would re-read what jebchevelle had said... what is your goal for the car? 13s, 12s? your combo is a long way away from those quicker et's ...imo, i would save up and change out the entire combo with another sbc (or bbc) that will get you to your target... you can spend a lot of money chasing improvements and a combo that works in bits and peices... a good start would be a diff and stall... if you are on a budget you can go to Debs for your convertor (or find one out of a 3.8V6 car)... i know of a 12 bolt posi w/410 gears for you car available locally as well... the gears might be a bit steep though, but it would give you a solid foundation for other changes to the car... i would keep my eye in the local buy&sell for parts or a complete engine, if you want to keep build costs down... eg.there's a ken murray built 427 in there for $3900, a fresh 454 w/781 heads no cam for $2500...but then you'd have to get all the other components for the swap... i have an sbc rpm air gap intake and 650 holley DP carb, which would wake up an sbc a bit...

i understand what u guys are saying i can put alot of money into this motor and not get the best results or i can put money into something that will get me big results.

my goals are to run 13s with the same internals. i have already planned to upgrade my converter and rear end this summer, and down the road some small chamber heads to get me around 9.5:1 comp ratio, and thats about it for the 350.
