70 chevelle convertible. No air kick panels. When I wash the car, I get water on the floor in the front corners, where your feet would be. I took one of the kick panels off. The putty that surrounds the big vent hole is falling off the plastic. I think that is where the water is comming from. What kind of putty or sealer should I use. I think weatherstrip type sealer would make a mess. The old bead of putty is pretty thick too.

Also try your local hardware store for "Rope Caulk".

Before you seal the panel, don't forget to check inside the fenderwell for debris. I was having the same problem with huge leaking when it rained. There was a bunch of old leaves stuffed in the fender causing water to build up. This also contributes to rusting on the bottom just behind the front wheel. I guess the Chevelle's are famous for that. Good luck.
