I am closing in on the deck filler, trunk gutters, etc. Going to install the pkg tray and deck filler and drill locating holes.

From those who have done this, should i install the full trunk floor before the deck filler, or can I access all the trunk later with the deck filler in place?

I am leaning toward welding in the deck filler, then the trunk, and the tail panel last.

Suggestions wanted.

.i don't think you will have issues either way BUT make sure you keep one end(top or bottom) of the trunk hinge brackets welded in place.when i did mine i cut out the spot welds on the brackets on the wheelhouses, replaced w.h's and welded the brackets back to the w.h's

before cutting the top ones under the tray.you want to keep those in the exact same spot or you might have trunk alignment issues.

Ahh, I kept the bottom of the trunk hinges attached and the new package tray seems to fit well. The whole mess, including the package tray, deck filler and trunk lid is now aligned and marked to as good as it will ever be.

awesome.one other thing.did you save the old package tray?as the front edge has the brackets for the top of the back seat, the ones that come with the new tray kinda suck.also one word of advice.before getting rid of the trunk floor make a note of where the backup light wire goes thru and drill the hole.i got mine all in and bumper on and went to run wires and was like wtf.i atually pulled the bumper and need that hole location if anyone happens to know off the top of their head?

Thanks. I did save the back seat brackets. Figuring out the location may take some finagling. Got trunk drop offs

Can the package tray and deck filler be welded together off the car and installed as one or should the package tray be installed and then the deck filler?

It can easily be dropped in place with both pcs together.

Issue to me was that the two have to be plug welded from the bottom if done one at a time.

Access seems to be ok to weld the deck filler when installing together.

Trunk hinges seem to be the biggest obstacle.

Found that I ordered the package tray extensions last night, had forgot. So now I have figure out how much of them to install.

Foegive me if i missed it but i put nearly all the back half of my 64 together with self tapping sheet metal screws to be assured that everything fit properly, if not it was easier to remove the screws and readjust to fit. When all the panels fit the way i wanted i removed one screw at a time and spot welded the holes, just one way to get there.

Yeah - having the trunk floor removed gives you plenty of room to work on the more difficult task of replacing the dutchman panel and supporting metalwork. Then install your trunk floor where the accessibility is better.

Raider, thanks, I am leaning that way.

Just figuring out how to get the rest of the trunk out.
