what kind of V8

I'm thinking of buying a 350 v8 I found one in the local classified. The guy said it is a Chevy 350 V8 Crate. Not much help other than that. How do I determine if it a Vortex, ZZ4 or first gen 350. I'm new to this so is there a p/n to look at or can I tell just by looking at the block. I'd eventually like to research the specs.
Any thought would be helpful.
Thanks.

if its a vortec 350 the last 3 digits will be 880.
it is a roller motor, depending could be 2 or 4 bolt mains.

if you talk to him again, ask for the casting numbers (ones on driver side back of block) (actually on a vortec they are on the pass side i belive).

you can search google for vortec 350 specs. scoggin dickey sells vortec short and long blocks. they are typically 9.5:1 cr cast pistons, powder metal connecting rods, cast crank, 1pc rear seal, roller cam.
