I recently purchased a '65 SS and it has an unusual exhaust system. Headers with 2.5 inch pipes, but the mufflers appear to be 3 to 4 foot long tubes with large dimples in them. The mufflers are just behind the headers and look to be only a year or two old. They sound great but I have no idea what kind of system this is. Anyone know?

Hey Guys, thanks for the info. I did a search on chambered exhaust and found a website gardnerexhaust.com which has pictures of several systems. What I have is a chambered exhaust after all. Thanks for all your input.

From what I recall a 65 never had a factory chambered system. Sounds to me like the Dynomax tubes, very classy sound with a neat rumble.

I'm sure that this exhaust system is not a factory system, it only looks to be a year or two old. The pictures of the chambered exhaust systems that I saw on the Gardner Exhaust web site look exactly like what is on the car. Thanks for all the feedback.
