The chrome plastic square knobs?

IIRC, my '69 heater control knobs just pressed on, no glue required. I should mention that mine were NOS knobs.
X2:thumbsup: and even the repop ones no glue required.

if it were me, I'd use Cyanoacrylate Adhesive, better known as Super Glue. It sets up rock hard so there would be no wiggle when you moved the levers.

The commercial stuff comes in three thicknesses and I use it in my cabinet making business for gluing small moldings and stuff that are too small to clamp. (I'd recommend the "thick" version for it's gap filling capability if you can find it.) The nice part about it is the 60 second wait for set-up. You can even use a spray-on accelerant that just about sets the glue instantly.

Personally I would NOT use CA glues on something like this for a couple of reasons...

First is CA can "smoke" a bit as it cures. This affect is especially apparent on clear plastics like your heater control lens. You may be able to clean it off but...

Next is CA makes a VERY permament bond. Should you ever need to remove one of those knob you may break the knob before you break the bond.

I would probably use a dab of epoxy myself. Nice strong bond. Good gap filling. Excellent cure with some allowance for initial positioning.

If you must glue them, try a small amount of 3M black weatherstrip adhesive. That stuff will hold anything.
Ditto on that. Plus, if you have to ever remove them you can.
