what do i look for in a broken trans

i pulled the 350 trans last night. what do i look for as far as wear and damage goes?

i dont wanna pull it apart unless i have a basic idea of what im looking for...

Ok what was your tranny doing, to make you pull it out?

If you can manually shift the trans but it will not shift itself means that some trash got into the governor or the gear on the governor may have stripped seen this alot especially as old as most th350 transmissions are getting to.

X2, if it won't shift out of 1st look at the governor. No gears at all look at the pump.
