the alto red clutches in my direct drum are burnt up as well as the outer seal. i have read some post on here about this problem and i want to know hat is best to put back in, add more alto reds..... or try the borg worner waffle stlye. its a 400 with an art carr transbrake and a 300/157 low gear set. its in a 69 chevelle with about 550/600 horse bbc and 300 shot of giggle juice.:confused::confused:. i plan on adding spiro locks and a case saver what else should i do???

Factory GM Borg Warner Hi energy frictions from a 4L80-E. Sounds like you had too much clearance and caused a seal to fail, the reds also work well but aren't necessary.

.100" is too much and probably the cause ofyour failure, piston may have overtraveled and busted the seal.

.010" per friction is a good rule of thumb for that drum. 5 frictions = .045-.055" clearance.

how many full thickness clutches will the direct drum hold without machine work, this one is actually from a 4l80
