RPM air gap
eddy 750 cfm w/ elec. choke
SS hood

I'd really like to use the SS hood I have, but I don't have the clearance, tried a 14" drop base but it hits the choke, tried an eddy pro flow and it hits the hood.

Would a 16" with like a 2" drop clear the elec. choke?

I'd hate to have to buy a 2" cowl hood...

What drop base did you try? The GM drop base, I think, drops a little more than 2". I use the GM drop base on the Holley carb, sitting on the Vic Jr. A generic base would not work on my setup.

It was (was) a eddy 14" 3/4-1" drop, but it hit the choke. I tried to hammer on it to clear the choke and put a hole in it. If I could find one that was wider, before it dropped, to clear the choke, it might work.

The one Edelbrock sells is the same as the regular drop base but with a longer bottom part that raises the whole thing to clear the choke. Not much help when hood clearance is a problem. Most of the guys I know that have run into clearance problems either removed the choke or changed to a Holley carb.

Well the parts I ordered worked! I had to use a hammer and bang out another 1/4 inch around the choke, but that's it, all is good. I put some play-doh about 1/2" thick on top and closed the hood to test and no marks in the doh! So if anyone else has this same setup/problem, you have part numbers now! Thanks guys!
