Well, I was 20 and saved along with my parents help, enough for a down payment on a 61 Chevy Impala Convertible. It had the 348 (I believe 350 HP, I remember the dealer calling it a police pursuit engine) with 3 two barrels, 4 speed, black with red / white interior, 4:11 rear with posi trac, I bought it just before the SS came out and of course the 409. If I only new than what I know now. ( I would still have it :ROFLMAO:) I guess going back to that time would be it for me.

35-40 old were my magic years, made enough to have a nice house, car, family and boat. Especially boating and putting down a few at the club was my favorite past time. I had more fun at the club then on the water most of the time back but then again fishing, whale watching and just cruising or watching the fireworks on the Charles was pretty damn good. Also the cars were getting faster again. Maybe not the best combinations (booze, boats and cars) but it was good times.

I would have STOLE the money to buy the 67 L88 Vette for $6500 that was parked next to the L88 crate I bought in 1977. And 100 shares of WalMart, simultaneously. And then Microsoft after that.

That is all! ( other than NOT marrying my first wife) I'd likely be in the same place, but able to afford 100 acres out west. :)

In hindsite, I wouldnt change much. Not many regrets, other than a Russian speaking red haired Army linguist I should have become more intimate with, even though she was in my direct command. Or not! ;)

I would probably go back to 1985 and elect to stay in my hometown with my dad instead of moving out of state with my mother. That's probably the wrong decision I've made with the farthest-reaching consequences. Unfortunately, at 13 I was too interested in keeping my mother happy and lacked the perspective I now have.

Regarding times I'd like to go back to, probably '92-'93 when I was in the Navy stationed at NAS Oceana, working at the base fuel farm. Those were some good days for me.

Funny, not sure I would want to and have to look forward to going through the last 2 years and present a second time. But if I could go back and change my decision on selling my 66 Beaumont SD coupe I could handle that. So beam me back to 1986

Everything happens for a reason and I learned from it all. I assume we're talking about cars. If I had saved my 66' Malibu from 1985, I'm sure it would be trashed by now. If I saved my 69' Camaro, I would be still making house payments for another 10 years. Instead, my house will be paid off next year.

The only thing I wish I could do over: I should have been more understanding about my mom's mental illness.
My mom was in the ER again from a mix of alcohol and pills. One her many attention getting stunts. Some may call it attempted suicide but I know she wasn't trying to die. Her face was drooped to one side. I told her, "This time I think you may have done some real permanent damage". I left the hospital disgusted.
A few hours later she died.

If I could go back with the knowledge that I have now...I'd go back to 1 week...I'd be rolling in the lottery cash now...LoL. Bad marriage produced awesome kids...would not change that. Second and final marriage produced awesome kids. I'd love to go back to 9 or 10 years old...no worries and baseball. but, I may make some decisions that would change my situation now. Going back to that time with our without knowledge may produce results that I'd regret.

You and me both Dunc!

Other than the red head in the Army, one regret was not buying "snake's" 68 Beau SD here listed for $6000 USD in oh, 2004-06 or so. Oh man, I missed the Beau(t)! Yet, BLASPHEME that I am, I would have "alf weibe'd" into into a full on drag car. Alf was Canadian!

PS. I am not "normal" y'all atall..... ask my wife of 29 years......last friend standing.....but few life regrets nonetheless.

PSS I was "rejected" by the CIA for irreverence, or so they told me. ;)
SOOOOO glad it turned out that way frankly! Gained a great marriage and two strapping laddies! ( and stopped "notching the gunbelt" )

Love reading the stories y'all - KEEP "EM COMING!

Have a BLESSED SUNDAY! ( and keep positive thoughts for Kathy "shovelrick" flowing!)

In 1981 winter/ fall on fishing for blue crab in Priloff islands on Bering sea I was sick as a dog. Should have gone to the island with everyone. Some sort of festival sucked it up and go. Missed opportunity. Not ever going to say let’s vacation there. Guys had a good time.
marry 1st wife 50/50. Then I would not have 2 males and a daughter. That’s still up in the air.
Not sell my 69 XR9 cougar rag top in 98 just because. It would be my black on black on black next hot rod. Had it since 78.
pay attention to chevelles from 74 to 78 HS years.
I did not miss my 72 and 67 opportunity. Same guy has 70 camero. He may get tired of it in couple years. That Opportunity will not be missed - even if it’s not my fav body style

Back many moons ago when I worked for Ma Bell and was a cable splicer we had a guy called Grasshopper (Black belt) who owned that dream car of yours. Sitting in my Z28 I used to watch him take a couple minutes to disarm his 67 L88 at the end of shift. He had a total of 4 alarms plus kills and after many attempts to steal it they eventually did get it. I remember back then when the old saying was "if your Vette hasn't been stolen then someone else's was twice". Well he never saw it again. One nice car.

I would have bought a 66 corvette like I always talked about doing and never did. In my defense, they weren't all that cheap in the 80's either. And moved out of IL to a warmer state!

Hmmmmm I guess i'd start with going back to 1987, and NOT get serious with the pathological lying cheating piece of crap that I let slither into my life.. 1989, would go onto college part II, and got my engineering degree... Those two things would have altered the course of my life, and I really have no idea where I would be now...

as far as cars go.. I would have bought the 55 from my dad to keep it in the family, same goes for the 69 Mach 1 that my uncle bought new the same month and year I was born. I would have kept that 1969 SS396 4 speed SS/RS Camaro convertible that I ran into in 1989 (and didn't even own long enough to register it), and I would have bought that 1970 SS 396 Chevelle convertible that was missing the front clip that I passed on for $400, also in 1989..... LOL....

I had some good times when I was younger, but none I’d trade for today. At 46 I’m comfortable with my life. I’d regret my first marriage if not for the kids. Second one has been very good to me. Tip: marry your best friend.
As for cars, I have a few I regret letting go, but you can’t keep them all. I still have my 64 Camino I bought at 16.
I’ve done well enough in my career to make a decent living, and I have no debt outside of my house, which is a relatively low payment and keeps my stress level low.
