Guys
I am about to purchase a full weather strip kit for my 71 chevelle. and the confusion is whose to use

ss396 has this kit
http://www.ss396.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=chevellecamino&Product_Code=JDX-70K8

Ausleys has this kit
http://www.chevelle.com/1969-72-Premier-Weatherstrip-Kit--P5450.aspx
and

OPG has this
http://www.opgi.com/p/weatherstripping-seals/10403/32/WK1070.html

so the question goes which is the better product. Is the ss396 kit just as good as the OPG kit even though there is such a large price difference.

Or is there somewhere better than this all around.
I do not need the paint seals. Just trunk doors windows etc...

Any guidance would be appreciated

Mike

I am not sure what brands are carried by the distrubutors you posted. From everything I have read and what I will be ordering here soon, Metro weather stripping is the best quality available.

The package from ss396 is metro. I recently ordered it for my 68. Since I have never ordered weatherstrip before i don't know how it compares to other brands. This I did learn and is why I am posting. If they package the products tightly on top of each other to fit in minimum boxes the material is very soft and gets distorted. It will somewhat return to normal shape after several days if not to badly squished but better to have them be more careful on how they package it.

I used Soft Seal on my 71 camaro, and Metro on a 81 Z28. (Roof rails and door seals) the Metro kit fit better and the doors closed better than with the Soft Seal kit. Used the Metro kits on every car since and have not been disappointed.

I believe I used softseal years ago on my 67 and it's been fine. I used Metro on my 86 Grand National and it sucks really bad, but then again, I don't think anyone makes weatherstripping for a GN that is worth a damn. So I think Metro or any other maker's products might vary a bit by model.

OK so it looks like the brand is Metro.

Are all these METRO or good guess just have to ask ?
I am about to order some metro weather stripping and I figured it would be easier to just go straight through Metro themselves. They have their own website you can check out and order from.

I got the ss396 kit for Christmas and I'm planning to install in a couple weeks. Ground Up told the wife it goes on without adhesives, can anyone tell me if this is true? My car got painted (only what you can see going down the road) before I bought it and I need to eventually paint the jambs and trunk surround, but was hoping to put the new weatherstrip on for the Ocean City May show, then just take off what I need to paint later.
