I just purchased a numbers/date matching BB water pump for my '70 SS. Id like any input on where to bring it for a rebuild (Southern NH/ Northern MA area) or if this can be done at home. What tools would I need and where can I get the parts or a kit?

I would try our host - Ground Up Restorations. I know I saw a water pump rebuild kit ($59?) in the last week or two when I was looking for bypass fittings and I think it was their catalog. I'd also try YearOne or OPG - It had to have been in one of those three 'cuz that's who I normally buy from.

Good luck.

If you can't do it yourself, there are several dealers that advertise water pump rebuilds in HMN.

I sent mine to Aurthur Gould, 6 Delores Ln, Fort Salonga, New York 11768, 516-754-5010. They advertise in Hemmings and will rebuild your original pump. Cost me $76 including shipping.

There almost HAS TO BE a rebuilder somewhere near you. Ask some local garages. Should not be over $50, TOPS to rebuild your own pump. There is a local rebuilder here in Okla City where I have mine done. About $30-35.
I would not recommend doing it yourself. First of all, you need a press, just for starters.
