A friend of mine is having a heck of a time with water leaks out of the pass side kick panel vent on his 66 ac car.

I think its a combination of poor seal of the vent & a clogged up drain.

Because its an AC car, there is some sort of heater core ac thing inside the vent area- so we can't see the drain.

Does anyone have pics of a 64-67 cowl/firewall/vent area that is cut open for rust repair or anything?

I'm going over tomorrow to pull off the inner ac box for the 3rd time, and see if we can't figure out the problem, and would like to arm myself with a photo or two for reference to what we can't see...

thnx

if you lay under the car buy the fender and door you should be able to see the drain hole. you sure the windshield is not leaking and the water is not making its way down there

From the inside of the car, the drain is forward in the vent space, next to the cowl, at the bottom. Like Keith said, you can see the hole laying under the car by the fender at the wheel well just in front of the door. Use a flashlight on the inside to see the hole from the outside (unless the plug is mud as mine was). I used a straightened coat hanger and long screw driver to clear the drain.

Should also be an opening into the rockers----was on my 66.

Caution----never drop your antenna small parts down here!!!
I dropped my antennea bezel nut into the cowl and it bounced halfway into the rockers.

Good thing my Elky had the holes in the rockers for the malibu trim

If you can wait until tomorrow, I might have some that you are looking for. I'm in the process of rust repair on my 67 and its all in view. I have the firewall stripped right now, it was an original AC car so it has a ton of holes in the firewall and the rust was bad behind the kick panel and around the heater core hose projections. I think I need a new piece that attaches the dash to lower windshiled too.
