I found out today that I have a B12 deficiency. Just wondering if anyone else has ran into this. I googled the problem and found that I have about half of the symptoms, just never put them all together. I swore up and down my wife was posioning me. I couldn't remember basic stuff like our phone number, couldn't concentrate at work, wanted to rip everyones head off and had white spots on my lip. Anyway, I've started getting shots. I read on one report that a tape worm can cause this. Hope that's not my problem.:beers:

From what I understand, John, if that's the trouble and you get the B-12 shot, you should start to feel better pretty quick. At least the mood part. Good luck with it.

I've always had everything but the white spots.
I'm not sure where you're going with this comment, but I had a couple and that's one of the reasons I found out what my problem was. B12 helps your body produce red blood cells. Therefore, less B12 = less red blood cells = less oxygen to your brain, muscles, spinal column, lips etc. Like I said, I swore up and down I was being poisoned. Being delusional is a symptom as well.

John,
Did you find this condition was only treatable with shots, or would supplements have worked?

I haven't talk to the Dr. yet. I have a meeting Mon. The thing with a shot is, it is getting in your blood stream no matter what. If you eat supplements, your body may not be able to absorb B12 through digestion. So if you eat alot of meat, eggs, dairy products (which I do) that contain large amounts of B12 and your body doesn't absorb it, it doesn't do much good to eat supplements. So the Dr. said I should have shots until they figure out why I'm low on B12 to start with.

Check your CBC-B12 deficiency causes a macrocystic anemia. See if your cells are macrocytic (LARGE red blood cells -is over 100, normal 80-100, small RBCs are less than 80 units)...you're either not eating well, or not absorbing well...

Im not a hematologist but am a gynecologist....
