I just installed that kit in my 70 el camino factory air car, easy install
no surprises, nice and cold, only thing I would do over is a custom line so
both go through radiator support and behind fender instead of just the one.

The Vintage Air unit is installed! Riding in today's 97 degree day and was truly cool. The volume of air was great and registered 46 degrees at the vents. Cool and Happy!
Did you get any pics of the install ? Sure would like to see it.
Also did you install yourself or have it done ?
Been considering one of these for my 72 El Camino .

Yeah, pics and more details of your install would be appreciated. I have a VA system sitting in the garage waiting to go into my 72 Elky, so I have a lot of interest in how your install went.
Zapc, can you give some more details and maybe some pics of the AC line routing thru the rad support?
I changed from a V belt compressor on the drivers side to a serpentine compressor on the passenger side, so I'm a little concerned about the condenser install. I called VA tech support and they said 'no problem', just need to add a hard line to get the lines to the passenger side.
So yes, I'm interested in your feedback and suggestions on the install.

sorry didn't take any pics during install, I can take some of it completed.
im using vbelts with compressor on drivers side, one line gets routed through rad support then through inner fender through a large grommet with 4 holes in it that installs where the original blower motor was. the other line goes over the front of motor and alternator into the inner fender then through the large grommet. the two heater hoses go through same grommet also. instead of routing the second ac line over the motor like stock, I wish I made a custom longer line routing it through rad support like the 1st line. it would clean up
appearance under the hood hiding both lines.

Looks great, what did they charge to install it for you? I’ve also been looking for any info I can find on this and been coming up empty. Seems everyone wants one and very few know anything about them.

Are you going to cover that huge hole left by the original system?

Dash controls. Hope these 3 photos provide some info for others. Maybe wished the heater hoses were brought to the front of the fendor like the AC hose.
I also have the Vintage Air system in my car and I'm pretty satisfied with it. However, the only comment I can make is that the control panel has no provisions for lighting at night. :noway:

Not that it would take much to memorize what does what and goes where but that kind of seems like a huge oversight.

I just installed VA in my 68 Chevelle.

I routed the suction hose, big hose, behind the engine and brought it up to the compressor on the drivers side. Other AC hose runs on top of the inner fender behind the battery to the hard piping. Then on the drivers side there is a short hose, high pressure, that runs from the compressor to the hard piping into the condenser.

Install was pretty straight forward if you just follow the instructions.

One thing I changed, was the fitting on both ends of the suction hose to more directly aim it at the fittings where it connected. It would have worked OK with the fittings they supplied, but I liked it better my way and they were easier to connect.

One thing I didn't care for is the heater hose connections are under the dash, inside the car. I suppose it's not a big deal, but if you ever had a leak it would be a mess. Just use the best heater hose you can buy.

If you want some pictures, let me know of what.
