Hello all. I am trying to find out if a 1970 chevelle ss 396 is real. The guy has two build sheets, protector plate, window sticker. I had him remove the dash to see the rivets holding the vin tag on to the dash. I saw rivets but not the flower looking rivets. I read an article that said you should be able to see the (roset) rivets on the dash. The vin tag also had a number in it. Can someone help.

While it's always a good idea to verify the V.I.N. of a vehicle you want to buy -
There is nothing in the V.I.N. that tells you if it is indeed and SS 396 optioned vehicle.
Does the car have an original build sheet? Protect O Plate warranty booklet?
Is the original engine with legitimate plant and 'con-vin' stamps on the block??

Send me a picture of the build sheet and I'll tell you if it's real or fake....
