On the 11th day of the 11th month at 11th hour we held ceremonies all over the Iraq. We stood for the national anthem, bowed out heads in prayer, remembered friends and loved ones, we listened to speechs about generations of veterans and their sacrafices, and when the ceremonies were over we went back to work.
The State Department and other Federal Agencies here took the day off.

When I was in the A.F. I remember crap like that. I though how strange it was to have to work on veterans day.
THANK YOU DALE for the thankless job you and you friends are doing. :beers:

Dale,

Thank you and all your fellow service men and women, we are all very thankful for what you do for the world.

I too think it is a travesty how poorly our govn't treats our service men and women. It is truely a crime how backs are turned to helping veterans in our veteran medical facilities after they have given so faithfully of them selves to our nation. Our government seems to find money for everything except taking care of our own true heroes.

Again thank you for all you do for us,
Bill

Thanks Dale. I'm driving my '69 Malibu in the local Veterans Parade today. Being a Veteran of the National Guard, I have invited my 80 plus year old WWII Veteran neighbor to ride with me. He thought about it and said, "I don't see why not".
I don't think he's ever been ask to do anything like this before.

My wife made two nice signs with American flags and his name to put on the doors of my car.

We had a great crowd for the parade last year. I hope it's even bigger this time.

Thanks again to you and all the others in our military.
We need you bigtime.

Thanks for your service Dale. I understand your point and don't want to underplay what you've said but keep in mind the spirit of the holiday. Would it make you feel better if Veterans Day were not a federal holiday and there were no parades or gatherings and speaches in honor of those having served? As much as the day is for those of the past putting themselves on the line, it's also for those currently doing so. Again thanks for being there for your country and may god speed your return home.
