having issues with my guide plate and valve train alignment I think on a couple of intake valves. The picture is #1 intake. My guide plate is adjusted as far as it will go without causing the pushrod to rub the intake casting on my edel rpm heads but doesn’t seem to be far enough to get a good pattern? Can I run it as is or am I looking at a valve guide problem down the road? I checked and removed the rocker 3 different times with pictures each time below. The patterns are shown with full valvetrain load, no checker springs. The width of the pattern seems wider than it really is with my hyd lifters bleeding down with spring pressure, but that wouldn’t affect the left side wear.

will I have to grind the casting?

On more than a few DeadBroke heads, I have seen the guide plates need to have the holes elongated, the plates cut apart, aligned, then welded back together.

Only heads I have seen even worse were the Pro-Comp disasters from Australia.

I’ll have to check the exhaust on #1 to see if it’s alignment is ok and do what you suggest to align the intake side…

Wouldn’t that be from a manufacturing defect???

I would think the valve guide wasdrilled/bored/installed at a angle or even the stud hole filled/tapped at a angle.

Looked at the exhaust tip today and it’s heavy on the right side of the valve, so it looks like I have a bit of guideplate adjustment to make. The exhaust pushrod needs to move right and the intake pushrod needs to go left. Has anyone used the comp cams adjustable plates?
Also pulled the #1 plug and it’s a little gunked up at the base of the strap, so I’m guessing I have some guide wear… maybe time to change heads as these would not be worth the time/money to r&r in my opinion.

I think some do, I didn't on mine. Haven't had the valve covers off in 6 years. I should someday.
