just one more question for now guys. my v i n starts with 138378....the code says the 38 after the 1 stands for concours, then the 37 means sport coupe. what does that actually mean? i've read that it means a special interior package or outside trim or whatever, but no one has satisfactorally explained this. how can you tell a concours from any other type? thanks for any input, it's very confusing.

From 69 on, The super sport was a added package to a malibu and was no longer a separate model.

it says on the decode that 38 means series concours. ever heard of that? i know it's an ss like all 8s but this concours business confuses me. thanks a lot for any help.

I know the "concours" wagon is a more up scale model but I'm not sure about the coupe's.

" Not a Super Sport." The Concours in the chevelle is a stationwagon . The 138 is a concours wagon with V8. Started in 1967 and continued at least till 1972. In 69-72 there was a 6 cyl concours wagon and the V8 was a Concours Estate wagon. The 67-68 concours had wood grain decals on the sides.

If its a 13835 or 36, Its a Concours Wagon? If it a 13837, Its a SS coupe?

I believe (at least in '68 that I've seen) that the Concours model was available in a 2-door Sedan as well.

I know this is nitpicking but, the SS is NOT an optioned Malibu. Yes it is true the SS is no longer a seperate model and is of course an option group; but it is a chevelle Sport coupe or 2 door chevelle sedan with an SS option (in 69 only). NOT A MALIBU!!!
