My collections manager just came to me and said that he sent 4 cars to the auction and ended up getting $2-3000 over the normal NADA wholesale price on each of them. The auction told him that it was a good day for all sellers. Has the C4C really driven the price up on used cars that high?

Collections is going to take advantage of the market and send all of the cars to the auction next week.

Boy Guys the market must be different where I'm at . I just took two vehicles to the auction and got about 2500.00 less than what I expected.
I'll hang onto them from now on till I see a big upswing.

Greensboro Auto Auction is where the cars were sold, might be worth your while to run a couple down here and see what they bring.

Heck, I noticed yesterday that the local "Buy here, pay here" lot next to my bro-in-law's tire shop has very few cars....about 2/3 of this lot is empty.
This lot has connections with about 10 local new car dealers which supplied the lot with trade-in but reasonably priced used cars.
I guess they're all being junked...at our expense. :(

All the used dalers around here, so. In., are having a terrible time getting quality used cars at any of the auctions. They are selling for more at the auctions then they list in the books. I don't think the clunker deal is the reson. I think it is the $30 thou tag on new Detroit iron.

Prices are way up on used cars everywhere. Can't get a good deal anymore. I hear they are being bought up and shipped out of the country. I stopped going to the auctions for that reason. I have better luck with the local classifieds.

Once the factories gear completely up and the air has cleared from this clunker deal it will swing back the other way. Desperation to sell the new ones will be back with large incentives.

I've been telling you guys this for months. Prices get higher each week for quality cars.If I pay NADA retail right now,I consider that a decent buy. Just bought an 05 Jeep Wrangler today for $16k with 30k miles, check retail book on that. Trucks, might as well forget them for a while.Paid $11,100 plus buyers premium for an '02 Ram Quad4x4.l:)
