They are Hylift Johnson lifters, I saw another user post about them for a BBC--so far on other forums he hasn't had any issues with them.
I just looked again. It says they are back ordered until mid June. I called Jegs earlier today about my Howards HR lifters that were supposed to ship May 7th, and was told i am now looking at mid-July.

I have a set of Elgin HL-1817S lifters, but they are made in Mexico and I'm hesitant to run them. The cam is a Summit .443/.465 214/224 on a 112* LS, with RV 943x .490" Z28 springs.

Small print probably says " Made in USA with Global material" Chinkatown recycled tin they call metal? I really don't know but if they're made with US steel I'd think they're good

I have been running a Elgin flat cam and lifters in my car with no issue. Elgin is an OEM provider for many OEM and make quality stuff. My cam and lifter were USA made though but I haven't heard of Mexico nightmares yet.

Thank you Mark, looks like I will hold out for the HR lifters. I did find a set of Clay Smith available.
If you haven't tried Competition Products, that is where I found mine.

I ordered a set of Clay Smith HR lifters from Summit. Howards was out of everything except their $800+ HR lifters. Summit still has a few sets of Clay Smith SBC HR lifters left.

I dont even if I should comment, there are so many threads on this subject over the last 15 years or so. However, you will just have to research the flat tappet issue and all the side avenues that go with that subject and figure out who you think is best. Seek out the moderators here and those who well informed on parts.

Bingo.....Lawyers are really good about taking advantage of the % of US content to call a part made in the USA. If all the parts from China cost .20 cents and the USA Snap Ring has a stated cost of .28 cents...you can skirt the USA made deal. Last Delphi USA make hyd flat tappets that were available I shipped to Bullet Cams 2 months ago. Expect to pay $120 a set at least from them.

Over on FB one of the Automotive Machinist group members did some Rockwell testing on flat tappet lifters. The OEM lifter out of a 283 measured 38C. The lifters supplied by aftermarket companies shipping today was between 29-30C.

If you like building and engines and doing things over and over again. Build flat tappet engines.

I must have 7 or 8 sets of old hyd lifters I bought over the years most I bought 20 years ago or so. Remember I bought 3 or 4 sets of crower lifters from an older gentleman that used to build motors. He said he hadnt built a motor in over 10 years and said the lifters were probably bought a few years prior to that. Remember one of the boxes was a double set of 32 lifters, was strange they sold them like that. Another set I got from him was light weight solid lifters crowers also. I still have 4 or 5 older cams I bought long ago sitting on the shelf for 20 years or more.

Here is what I said previously.

Chris comes here enough and knows all the stuff within his line of work, he must know what he is talking about.

However, if I was going to only drive a car few thousand miles a year and proper quality flat tappets pieces where around, then I would save some money. Then again you just dont know. You just have to take a leap in doing your own research.
