My daughter and I went to a local cruise nite tonite. OK turnout, but what really caught our eyes was a '68 Chevelle came rattling in. Sounded kinda weird, but whatever. It turns, and drives slowly towards us, and under the front of the car are two large blue and silver pipes. Hmmm, that's unusual. This car is a twin turbo diesel!! Sorry no pictures, owner didn't want to open the hood.

Very unique, very cool!! Made my nite. With my daughter, and seeing something totally different.

Just thought I would share. Daren

Some of those turbo diesels are astonishly quick in 7000 lb. trucks. My only concern with a package like that in a short wheelbase Chevelle would be forward weight bias. The car sounds like a tire roaster.

I hate diesels....got behind some kid in one of those big diesel trucks on my motorcycle awhile back....I could see him looking in his rear view mirror....he would slow down and let me get close then pore on the coal and spew black smoke all in my face....I couldn't go around him and he did it several times.....I do admit, even though I was the victim, it was sort of funny. Lol

I'm with you, saw some diesel idiot the other day with his pump set up so high he left smoke like an old freight train. The bed of his truck was covered in soot and diesel. Pretty cool huh?

On a funny diesel prank note,,, had a friend who put diesel in his windshield fluid container on his 73 Valiant slant six, then the other line out into his carb. Would smoke anyone out at the drop of a hat by pushing his washer fluid. You couldnt see behind him for 2 minutes it was so thick, you could even taste the crap!
Used to drive around outdoor restaurants and you couldn't see your plate after he was there. A cop finally pulled him over and was pissed and said he had never seen any car smoke that much! My buddy told him it was intermittent and maybe it need a valve job. The cop said if I see even a tiny trail of smoke when you drive away I will impound it, so my buddy drove off clean and safe! HAHA The guy runs a pristine 63 Dodge in Spokane now that runs 9.66 at 155, his brother who also was a cohort runs a gorgeous 63 Plymouth Sport Fury in Boise that runs 9.90's at 153

I love smoking out these jackasses with the spandex shorts and the gay little helmets riding their bicycles out in the middle of the road......

Couple of weeks ago I smoked a ricer while I was towing my car trailer with a 4,000lb car on it...... You should've seen the look on his face.....

I'm not a fan of diesels either....but they sure are fun... :D

I saw a strange combo at our local cruise Fri night. It was a '49 Studebaker pickup with a big Cummins turbo diesel and truck tranny, probably an Allison. The cab floor was cut away (still under const) for trans clearance. It didn't have a bed on it yet and had a huge semi type rear diff with air suspension and nicely crafted 4 link brackets and bars. the rear tires and wheels looked like something off a concrete truck, about 3 ft or more diameter and about 16" wide. I'm guessing the engine, trans, diff, and rear wheels all came from a junked concrete truck.

i like the idea of a diesel engine- what's not to love about insane amounts of torque right off idle and awesome fuel economy?- but i can't stand most of the idiots that own them... why they think pouring black smoke out all the time and telling the world that you are an idiot that runs his truck way too rich is a cool thing to do is just something that i will never, ever understand... and they just sound like crap when they put the obligatory 5" exhaust on their Duramax..

Diesel trucks are the new "ricers".

Stickers, exhaust, obnoxious owners who act like idiots, etc...

my '08 F250 Powerstroke doesn't smell or make any black smoke...it's no different than the 6.0 '07 GMC 2500 HD I had before it....they must be making them do that which I agree is pretty lame and stupid.

Last summer i was sitting at a stop light to go straight. A Ford diesel pulled up beside me to make a left hand turn. When he left the light he was pumping out black smoke that went into my open drivers window. I was so pissed I chased the guy down and told him If that ever happens again, I would have him charged with assault. Never see him doing the black smoke again. Small town.
