[Merlin]

A while back, I had a chance to buy a 'rebuilt' M-20 at a reasonable price. But the seller would not let me open the side case, so I passed. Now I've found an M-21 with fresh rebuild and the guy says Go ahead, open it up. So I may buy this one. One small problem... after the rebuild, he painted the case a hideous color. Is there a safe, effective way to remove the paint without taking the transmission apart?

This is not good! Maybe DZ can help out here. He works on big giant aircraft and knows all about cleaning aluminum. Most paint strippers may not be real friendly to the aluminum case not to mention the seals.
